Spirally welded pipes of large diameter are intended for the construction of oil and gas pipelines, field oil pipelines, general-purpose pipelines, pipelines for heating networks and nuclear power plants.
They are made by the method of electric arc welding under a layer of flux.
The use of spirally welded pipes reduces losses in case of emergency destruction of pipelines, since the spiral seam prevents the propagation of longitudinal main cracks in pipelines (the most dangerous type of destruction).
Spiral welded pipes have increased bending, tensile and compressive strength.
