The solvent is fed into the extraction product upstream, i.e. the fresh solvent will contact the extraction cake for a short time before the cake is unloaded from the extractor. Thus, the fresh solvent affects the practically oil-free cake, and the saturated miscella interacts with the fresh oily cake entering the extractor.
In the extraction process based on the difference in backflow concentration, the increased extraction efficiency ensures low residual oil content in the cakes.
The low filling level of the extractor also provides a larger extraction surface (during the required extraction periods) and therefore a more efficient extraction process.
