Drill pipes with friction welded locks are designed for construction, overhaul of exploration, oil and gas production wells, drilling of side inclined and horizontal boreholes and performing various technological operations in wells.
The drill pipes are connected to each other using drill joints with a special tool joint thread. The ends of the pipe body are subjected to external, internal or combined upsetting before welding of the drill joints.
Drill pipes are made seamless, from carbon or alloy steels, by friction welding of drill joints to the upset ends of the drill pipe body.
